Food Access

Our Commitment to Affordability

In our financially challenging world, it is easy for local, healthy produce to become a luxury only afforded by a select class. We know that most small farmers are struggling to balance books let alone rake in millions and at times this means prices well above conventional levels. As a beginning farm, we are doing our best to keep prices accessible for as wide a portion of our community as possible. We are fortunate to own the land we farm on and much of the equipment we use, keeping some major overhead costs off our expense sheet. When we set prices, we consider the input and labor costs as well as what we think our community can support.

Donation and Coalition Work through Tehama Together

There is already so much incredible work underway in Tehama County to ensure that people have steady access to food in our community. If you are not already familiar, check out Tehama Together, which is an umbrella organization for a number of service organizations in Tehama County, including an extremely active and well-organized Food Share coalition. In their own words, Tehama Together organizes “The collaborative quarterly convening of programs which have food pantries or provide free meals for those in need in Tehama County. Approximately fifteen nonprofit and religious groups participate. During the meetings, the scheduling of food distribution and meals is arranged to avoid duplication.”

Below is an outline of the current meal and food programs available in Tehama County.

In our first year, we aim to make regular deliveries to the Tehama County Gleaners, PATH, and the Red Bluff Salvation Army.
